MERRILL, WI (WSAU) – The Merrill Fire Department has released details surrounding a home fire that occurred on Thursday morning and left the structure as well as the garage at a total loss.
According to a press release from the Merrill Fire Department, when firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire had already spread over to the unattached garage, with the fire consuming the home. The department further noted that no one was home when the fire started, no one was injured in the fire, and that foul play did not seem to be a factor in the incident.
Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies were the first on the scene and discovered a down power line near the home, but at this time, authorities from the Sheriff’s Office or Wisconsin Public Service haven’t stated if they believe it to be the sole cause of the fire.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation by the Merrill Fire Department.
