BOSTON, MA (WSAU) — Kutter Crawford was chased after just 4.1 innings as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Boston Red Sox 7-2 on Friday at Fenway.
William Contreras recorded two hits including a two-run homer in the third. Christian Yelich, Willy Adames, and Blake Perkins also recorded multiple hits.
Adames added a two-RBI double in the 5th. Joey Ortiz and Brice Turang each added a sacrifice fly to bring home a run as well.
Brewers opener Jared Koenig was pulled after recording just two outs in the first inning- a planned move by Manager Pat Murphy. Bryse Wilson went the next 5.1 innings, scattering six hits and two earned runs while striking out seven batters. Joel Payamps closed out the game by tossing a perfect 9th.
Koenig became the 1,000th player to appear in a major-league game for the Brewers since the franchise moved from Seattle.
