MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers used their red-hot offense again to take another game from the Cubs on Thursday afternoon, winning 6-4.
Willy Adames led the way for the Crew, getting two hits and scoring once against Cubs starter Jameson Taillon, while catcher Gary Sanchez hit a key two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, breaking the 4-4 tie and allowing the Brewers to close the game out.
Bryan Hudson earned the win after pitching 1.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits, while starter Colin Rea provided Milwaukee with five solid innings, giving up just one earned run and striking out five.
Milwaukee has won three out of their last five games and holds a five-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central, with the Chicago White Sox coming to town for a weekend series. Tobias Myers will get the start for the Crew, while Erick Fredde will get the start for Chicago. First pitch can be heard on WSAU on Friday at 7:10 p.m. CST.
