Wausau Woodchucks
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Woodchucks (19-3) suffered just their fourth loss of the 2024 season to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (10-11) on Thursday, 15-3.
The Chucks were looking to tie the franchise record with a win that would’ve put them on a 10-game winning streak. Still, it was a tough day for pitcher Grant Siegel, who gave up three earned runs on eight hits in five innings pitched. The offense struggled to put runs on the board as shortstop Isaac Bruce, who has been one of the Woodchucks’ top hitters so far this season, went hitless and catcher Max Soliz Jr. delivered just one RBI on one hit.
Trey Gambill made his NWL debut today for the Woodchucks, and in his first at-bat, he recorded a double. Bryce Hubbard also made his NWL debut for the Chucks, and his first hit was a two-run blast to get the Woodchucks to three runs, while Daniel Harden earned his first home run as well, a solo shot in the 9th.
In Game 2 Gambil hit a home run and Issac Webb had three hits as the Chucks beat the Rafters 6-3. Carson Plumadore picked up the win with four scoreless innings.
