NEILLSVILLE, WI (WSAU) — Bond has been set at $1 million for the man accused of killing two children and injuring an adult woman in a stabbing incident.
Victor Manuel Gomez Acosta appeared in a Clark County courtroom on Tuesday where he also learned that he will face two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of attempted homicide.
Investigators say he killed two children by stabbing them Friday morning in an Abbotsford trailer home. He’s also accused of stabbing a woman, who is recovering from her injuries.
Officers arrested Gomez Acosta at the scene. He was treated for self-inflicted stab wounds before officers booked him into the Clark County jail.
No further details have been released including the identity of the surviving victim. Officers added they will not be naming the deceased children due to their age.
A motive for the attack and whether Gomze Acosta is related to the victims remains unclear.
The 29-year-old did appear with an attorney who requested a mental competency evaluation for him. That request was not immediately addressed according to court records.
All three charges against Gomez Acosta carry automatic life sentences. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 30th.
