MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Minocqua man is accused of OWI and battery against law enforcement after an incident on Highway 86 in Lincoln County.
Scott Glover is accused of a first-offense OWI with a passenger under the age of 16 in the vehicle, resisting or obstructing an officer, battery against an officer, threatening an officer, and disorderly conduct after he was arrested on Saturday night near the border between Lincoln and Price Counties.
Sheriff’s officials said it started with a report from the man’s daughter, who said she was in the vehicle with Glover, and he had been drinking. Reports indicate that the man left his vehicle along the highway and walked to a nearby home, but returned a bit later and continued driving.
Officers later received another report of the same vehicle weaving in and out of the ditch before stopping again along the highway. The driver was then involved in an altercation before officers arrived.
Due to his aggressive behavior officers did not conduct a standard field sobriety test but they did manage to arrest him. As he was being handcuffed he grabbed the leg of the female officer, who used minimal force to get him to stop assaulting her.
He is also accused of threatening the officers as he was being transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
The 44-year-old made a court appearance on Monday and was given a $5,000 bond. He was released after posting the first $1,000 in cash and signing for the rest. He faces up to six years in prison if found guilty on the felony charges of threatening an officer.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 29th.
