The Wausau Finance Committee will discuss a plan to complete extra road resurfacing projects this summer thanks to last winter’s mild conditions.
According to a memo from Public Works Director Eric Lindman, the city can spare an extra $200,000 for mill and overlay work. That would bring the 2024 mill and overlay budget to $660,000.
Lindman’s memo did not include how much additional street work that amount would cover.
Mayor Doug Diny has endorsed the plan, saying it would amount to a lateral move from one side of the street maintenance budget to another. He also said they wouldn’t plan to spend all of the winter maintenance budget, leaving some in the bank just in case it’s needed for weather events in November and December.
The transfer will be discussed as part of the Finance Committee’s regular meeting at 5:15 PM Tuesday.
