GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have announced who will be headlining their annual Kickoff Weekend concert in September.
According to the team, Grammy-nominated American rock group Counting Crows will perform for free on Saturday, September 14, starting at 5 p.m. outside Lambeau Field in the stadium’s northwest side parking lot. This event will cap off the weekend before gameday on September 15th, when the Packers host the Indianapolis Colts.
With the release of their debut album, August and Everything After (1993), Counting Crows saw a rise in popularity. Due to their breakout hit single “Mr. Jones” in 1993, the album sold over 7 million copies in the US. The group was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 1994: one for “Best New Artist” and one for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” (for the song “Round Here”). Recovering the Satellites, the follow-up album, peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 album list and at the top of several other international charts.
Concertgoers can park for free in the Lambeau Field lots on a first-come, first-served basis. It is permitted for guests to bring chairs and blankets for use during the performance. Food and drinks will be sold at Titletown and the Lambeau Field parking lot.
