WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Season Two of State of Affairs is now available, featuring Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel joining the program to discuss his campaign and issues facing the state’s highest court.
When speaking about the issues facing the state such as abortion and the role the court may play in deciding if it will be legal in the state or not, Schimel says while that gets a lot of attention there are many ways the court is already affecting Wisconsinites everyday lives saying, “They issued a ruling out of Egg Harbor where they decided that a sidewalk is not a pedestrian right of way and what did it did was give that local municipality the power to take through eminent domain the property of a local business owner to put in a sidewalk and the statute says you can’t take property by eminent domain to for a pedestrian right of way they concluded…what I think bizarrely…that a sidewalk is not pedestrian right of way and ultimately gave government more to take property from a business owner.”
Join us for the full unedited conversation, follow the show on Spotify and catch the conversation during Wisconsin Weekend on WSAU to see what Schimel thinks of the court reversing their decision on ballot boxes being allowed in the state, what the court’s role in deciding the issue of abortion should be, and how dark out of state money has now become normalized in state supreme court races.
