CINCINNATI, OH (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers stayed hot at the plate on Friday afternoon to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 in game one of their doubleheader.
It was another multi-hit game for the Brewers’ former top prospect, Jackson Chourio, who went 2 for 5 on the day but failed to knock in any runs. Chourio did have a concerning moment on the field trying to beat out a throw to first after hitting a ground ball that resulted in him landing on his ankle awkwardly, but he did not leave the game. His status for game two later tonight has not yet been determined.
Shortstop Willy Adames stayed hot from the plate, going 2 for 4, including hitting his 25th home run of the season, which made him the first shortstop in franchise history with multiple 25-home run seasons.
Reliever Trevor Megill got the win for the Brewers after he pitched a shutout 8th inning while starting pitcher Colin Rea pitched just four innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out five.
The Brewers will take action later this afternoon, with DL Hall slated to get the start for Milwaukee and Rhett Lowder scheduled to get the start for the Reds. The first pitch can be heard at 5:40 on 93.9 The Game.
