WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office has named the suspect from last month’s high-speed chase and shooting incident.
Clinton Mayotte appeared in a Wood County courtroom on Tuesday where a judge ordered him held on a $2.1 million bond. Charges against him are still pending.
The incident occurred back on August 20th when officers were called to a Wisconsin Rapids home for a report of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they learned that the suspect had fled the scene.
He was pulled over in Portage County but fled that incident as well, ending up back in the City of Wisconsin Rapids where the pursuit began. During the chase, the suspect fired a weapon at officers. The suspect vehicle was eventually disabled and he fled on foot.
A police drone then found him on top of a building. He fired at officers again, leading to an exchange of gunfire which left him wounded. Officers provided first aid until he could be hospitalized.
