MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers women’s volleyball team is heading into the weekend outside of the top five in the rankings, while the men’s soccer team is ranked in the top ten for the first time in nearly a decade.
According to the 2024 Preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association, the Badgers women’s team began the season ranked No. 3 in the nation, but after going 0-3 with losses to No. 6 Louisville, No. 1 Texas, and No. 5 Stanford to start the season, the team has fallen to No. 6 in the latest AVCA rankings.
Superstar Sarah Franklin currently leads all Badgers with 63.5 points and 60 kills in 12 sets played. UW will look to return to their winning ways against Texas Christian University on Sept. 6.
According to the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll, the men’s soccer team of the Wisconsin Badgers is ranked No. 10 for the first time since 2017. With six goals and 14 points in three games, freshman Dean Boltz has been among the country’s top scorers and his seven goals are the highest for a UW freshman since 2005.
