MADISON, WI (WSAU) – As the Badgers switch their focus from South Dakota to Alabama, online betting sites have Wisconsin as a large underdog to the fourth overall-ranked Crimson Tide to open the week.
According to the DraftKings Sportsbook, the Alabama Crimson Tide will come to Madison on Saturday as 15.5-point favorites over the Badgers, which will be the first meeting of a home-and-home series between the two programs. Other sportsbooks such as Fanduel and Caesars Sportsbook also have the spread at 15.5 points with the over/under set at 51.
Due in large part to junior running back Jam Miller’s outstanding play, the Tide has won its first two games of the season, defeating Western Kentucky 63-0 and South Florida 42-16. Miller has only had 20 total touches so far this season but has already scored two touchdowns and gained 194 rushing yards. The Badgers’ defense has had difficulty stopping the run through the first two weeks of play, giving up an average of 121.5 rushing yards per game, which is currently ranked 66th in the nation. Wisconsin will also need to slow down Heisman candidate Jalen Milroe, who has thrown for just under 400 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.
Ever since defeating No. 5 LSU at Lambeau Field to begin the 2016 season, the Badgers have failed to upset a team ranked in the top five and are coming off of a lackluster 27-13 win against South Dakota, in which they came into the game as 21.5 point favorites.
