GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – One of the Packers’ premier defensive players is speaking out against the field conditions at Corinthians Arena during the team’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
During an episode of Clubhouse Live hosted by Brett Christopherson, three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark spoke about the surface, saying it made the game tougher to play. “It was trash, man. I’ve played in snow; I’ve played in rain; I ain’t never played on a surface like that.”
“There was like clay coming out of the ground. You got holes in the ground. It was a tough surface to play on,” Clark continued.
Clark played 74% of the defense’s total snaps against the Eagles and recorded just two tackles with no quarterback pressures or sacks for a PFF grade of 39.4, which was the second-lowest on the defense in front of only linebacker Isaiah McDuffie, who scored a 35.7.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur was asked about the field during his post-game press conference, saying it wasn’t the reason for the loss. “I’m not going to make excuses about the field. It was the same for both sides.”
The hybrid turf used at Corinthians Arena is the same as that used at Lambeau Field and Lincoln Financial Field. It is a blend of natural grass and turf fibers.
