GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are not ruling out the idea that quarterback Jordan Love could play against the Colts on Sunday despite not being able to practice on Wednesday.
During the media availability period after practice, head coach Matt LaFleur believes there is still a chance that the door isn’t closed on Love starting the game, saying, “I’d say it’s pretty open. He’s doing a nice job. He’s spending a lot of time in the training room.”
“At the same time, he’s got to be cleared. We have to feel like he can protect himself. He’s got to be confident enough to go out there and do that. Until that happens, we’re not even going to think about that,” LaFleur continued.
Love, who is recovering from a sprained MCL, won’t need to practice during the week to play against the Colts, according to LaFleur, so even if he’s unable to practice on Thursday and Friday, he could still play on Sunday.
During Wednesday’s practice, Malik Willis and Sean Clifford both received first-team reps, with Willis expected to get the start if Love is unable to go.
