Wausau’s Public Health and Safety Committee will consider creating an ordinance against threatening or intimidating an election worker.
The temporary ordinance would mirror an incoming state statute that will make it a felony to threaten or commit battery against a poll worker, local clerk, or election official. That’s scheduled to take effect on July 1st, 2025.
But since the law won’t be in place for the upcoming November election, local leaders are looking to put protections in place to cover until then.
The measure would have a sunset date of June 30th.
