MILWAUKEE, Wi (WSAU)– The Milwaukee Brewers plated a run in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat the Chicago Cubs 1-0 on Friday night at Miller Park.
Christian Yelich led off the inning with a walk and went to 3rd on Jedd Gyorko’s single . He scored on Ryan Braun’s sacrifice fly off former Brewer Jeremy Jeffress.
Brandon Woodruff, Devin Williams and Josh Hader combined on a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts.
The Brewers are four games behind the first place Cubs in the Central Division but only 1 game behind the second place St. Louis Cardinals who lost to the Reds on Friday.
Milwaukee will host the Cubs again tonight…pre game show at 5:35 on WSAU.
