WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – A new report highlights Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz’s unprecedented campaign strategy as election day nears.
According to a report by Axios, the Harris-Walz campaign is on track to the fewest interviews and press conferences of any major political campaign in American history.
Since President Biden abruptly withdrew from consideration as the Democratic nominee on July 21, Harris and Walz have been on the campaign trail for 59 days, respectively. The Axios report shows that in those 59 days, Republicans Donald Trump and JD Vance have done over 70 interviews and press conferences with print and TV reporters, while Harris and Walz have only done seven.
When the report was broken down by media outlets, local TV interviews for Trump stood at seven, Vance was fifteen, Harris was one, and Walz was three. National television interviews: Vance, 24, Harris, 1, Trump, 2, and Walz, 1. Press conferences: Walz, 0; Vance, 12; Trump, 3.
In mid-August, before the Democratic convention, an ABC survey revealed that almost thirty percent of respondents had no opinion about Walz. Meanwhile, the New York Times/Siena post-debate poll found that Trump and Harris are currently tied nationally at 46%. Trump’s approval rating is 47%, and Harris’ is 48%.
