TUCSON, ARIZ (WSAU) – Following former President Trump’s Tucson rally last week, at least six attendees have come forward with unexplained eye injuries that even sent one of the individuals to the ER.
According to News 4 Tucson, each of the reported victims was seated behind former President Trump throughout the rally and experienced a range of serious medical conditions that included severe eye irritation and even temporary blindness.
One of the victims who spoke to the outlet was former Planned Parenthood Director Mayra Rodriguez, who said doctors at the emergency room believed her injury appeared intentional, saying, “As soon as we left and we stepped outside, my eyes were burning,” and continued by stating, “The emergency room staff, from the triage nurse to the PA [Physicians Assistant], asked, Are you sure you didn’t get sprayed with something? Your symptoms look like you got sprayed with something.”
Rodriguez explained further that her injuries only worsened the following day, saying she couldn’t “see anything when I try to open my eyes. I see a bright light. It hurts; it hurts a lot to open my eyes. I have this cold cloth I put on and take off constantly. It’s horrible.”
Another victim who wished to remain anonymous made similar statements to News 4 saying, “It kept getting worse and worse, my eyes were watering a lot, my nose started running then I started feeling my face get really flushed and my neck felt like it was on fire, and it just progressed from there.”
The Trump campaign addressed the injuries in a statement, saying they’re looking into the injury reports. “The Trump campaign has been collecting information. We remain committed to the countless patriots that attend our high-energy, high-impact rallies across the country.”
In recent months, injuries and medical issues occurring during the former president’s rallies have mainly been contained to fainting due to high temperatures causing dehydration, but these are the first reports of voters suffering eye injuries. Neither the FBI nor the Secret Service have provided comment on the injuries or if they’re investigating the matter at this time.
