MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Brewers put up a four-run fifth inning but failed to score in the other eight frames in a 7-4 loss to Arizona on Friday.
Joey Ortiz, Garrett Mitchell, and William Contreras all homered in the 5th. Contreras brought home two on his shot, scoring Jackson Chourio.
Starter Collin Rae went four innings and allowed three earned runs off five hits. DL Hall took the loss in relief. He pitched into the 6th inning and allowed five hits and four earned runs.
Three other relievers managed to limit the damage, but the offense couldn’t keep up.
The Diamondbacks were led by Ketel Marte who had three hits. They improved to 86-68 with the win and moved into the second Wild Card spot, ahead of the New York Mets. Milwaukee fell to 88-66, maintaining the #3 seed in the Postseason bracket.
