GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are beginning to explore options at the kicking position as rookie Brayden Narveson’s struggles continue through the first month of the season.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates and Rob Demovsky, free agent kickers Chad Ryland and Lucas Havrisik worked out for the Packers on Tuesday afternoon and could be considered to be placed on the practice squad in case Narveson can’t improve in the coming weeks.
During his nine games with the Los Angeles Rams last season, Harvisik made 15 of 20 (75%) field goals and 19 of 22 (86.4%) extra points. The Cleveland Browns cut him this offseason at final cuts. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots selected Ryland in the fourth round of the 2023 draft, and during his debut season, he made 16 of 25 (64%) field goals and 24 of 25 (96%) extra points. The Patriots cut him during August’s final cuts.
At 69.2%, Narveson’s field goal-kicking percentage now ranks 25th in the NFL following Sunday’s loss while he’s yet to miss an extra point and ranks second for points scored by a kicker this season at 36.
