MEDFORD, WI (WSAU) — Governor Tony Evers has appointed a Sheriff in waiting for Taylor County.
Chief Deputy Corey Dassow will replace current Sheriff Larry Woebbeking on January 1st, according to a press release on Thursday.
Woebbeking announced his retirement this summer, triggering an application process to replace him. Dassow will serve the remainder of Woebbeking’s term, which runs through January 2027.
Dassow and Woebbeking will be working together for the next three months to create a “seamless transition for the members of Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens we serve.”
Clark County will also have a new Sheriff in the new year after Scott Haines announced he would also retire at the end of this year. Governor Evers’ office is also taking applications to fill that role. Applications are due by next Friday, October 11th.
