WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The annual ‘Trunk or Treat’ event in Wisconsin Rapids is canceled.
On Monday the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department announced the October event, offered as a safe alternative to door-to-door trick or treating, is off until next year.
A Facebook post says the decision was made because of COVID-19 concerns. It reads: “Wisconsin Rapids Residents, unfortunately we are canceling our annual Trunk or Treat event. This has been our favorite event to host for our very supportive community (especially for the kids). We will miss seeing the friendly faces and great costumes. Due to the high numbers of attendance we have received in the past, it will not take place out of concern for the public’s safety in regards to COVID-19. We’ll see you at the WRPD Trunk or Treat 2021!”
As COVID-19 numbers remain high, it is likely that many communities will be considering restrictions on Halloween-related activities that could spread Coronavirus.
