WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Weston man accused of stalking an ex-girlfriend and cutting the brakes on her vehicle will serve prison time.
Jeremy Jimmerson pled guilty to stalking and recklessly endangering safety earlier this month. Judge LaMont Jacobson sentenced him to two years in prison and five years on extended supervision.
The 42-year-old cut the brake lines on his ex’s vehicle while it was parked in a Rib Mountain parking lot, then sent her threatening text messages implying that some sort of danger would be coming her way. A mechanic said the cuts were clean and intentional, not caused by corrosion or other environmental factors and would have caused brake failure in a matter of days.
Security camera footage from the parking lot shows Jimmerson committing the act. Additionally, cell phone data shows he was in the area at the time.
The woman said she and Jimmerson had been arguing over money and ownership of the vehicle.
Court records show Jimmerson has been housed in the Stanley Correctional Institution since February 1st. He was given credit for just over 410 days already served. Judge Jacobson also ordered him to undergo treatment including anger management.
State prison records show Jimmerson has numerous prior convictions dating back to 1998 including four OWI’s and one incident of escaping custody. His previous convictions also include counts of battery, disorderly conduct, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
