WAUSAU, WI (WSAU)— All summer long, movie fans and families have come downtown to watch a movie at the 400 Block and will have one more opportunity to do so on Wednesday evening.
According to Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry departments, attendees are encouraged to come to the 400 Block in costume to see the hit family movie Hotel Transylvania, which will be Wednesday’s featured presentation. Almost a dozen local businesses, such as The Grand Theater and Sweets On Third, will be participating in trick-or-treating.
Hotel Transylvania, starring Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, and many others, tells the story of monsters who want to get away from it all and head to Count Dracula’s Hotel Transylvania, a high-end resort where they can be themselves away from humans. On one special weekend a year, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy, and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis. However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis. The film was released in 2012 and over the years has become a classic Halloween family film trilogy, with the most recent addition being released in 2018.
Trick or treating will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will go until 5:30 p.m., with the movie scheduled to begin at 6.
