WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The U.S. Department of Justice will be sending officials to central Wisconsin and across the country on election day as they seek to ensure all federal voting rights laws are followed.
According to a press release, the officials will be in Wausau as well as in the Town of Lawrence, the city of Milwaukee, and the Town of Thornapple, as millions of Wisconsin voters are expected to head to the polls to vote in Tuesday’s pivotal election with the eyes of the nation on the Badger State, which is expected to play a role in not just which party will control the U.S. Senate but also the White House.
The release did not state why Wausau or any other specific location was chosen to be observed as the department’s list includes polling locations from Alaska to North Carolina.
According to the DOJ, local election officials—including those stationed at the polling station—should always be notified of any complaints regarding disturbances at a voting station. Reporting violence, threats of violence, or intimidation at a polling station should be done right away by dialing 911 to notify the local authorities.
