WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – Two major news outlets have called the 2024 presidential race for former President Donald Trump.
According to Fox News and the Decision Desk HQ, Trump has reached the 270 electoral college total needed to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris, which would make him the 47th president of the United States.
The projected president-elect reached the 270 mark by winning key states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina on Tuesday night while holding a seven percentage point lead in Michigan with 75% of vote reporting and a five percentage point lead with 71% reporting Nevada.
WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming spoke about Trump’s projected victory in a statement saying, “From the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wisconsin was the cornerstone of President Trump’s victory. This election was a triumph for the millions of working families who made their voices heard after four years of neglect and division. It is now time for all of us as Americans to come together, rally behind President Trump, and work as one to build a better future for our country.”
Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign stated that she has no plans to concede the race at this time and will instead “be back tomorrow,” while claiming there may still be a pathway to victory with states like Nevada, Arizona, and Michigan still tallying votes into Wednesday.
