RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) – It’s been too warm to make snow, and the Granite Peak Ski Resort is likely to push back its opening day this season.
The tentative opening day was Wednesday, November 27th. They’re hopeful for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 30th or the following Friday, December 7th. An announcement will be made on social media once a date is set.
Granite Peak has 255 snow guns. But it must be 28 degrees or below to make snow. Most nights have been in the 30s so far this month.
The ski area requires extensive grooming once snow-making begins.
