MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – On Monday morning, the Milwaukee Bucks received some good news regarding an injury: One of their top scorers is expected to return to the court.
According to The Athletics’ Eric Nehm, point guard Damian Lillard is “probable” to play on Monday night against the Houston Rockets after missing the team’s last three games due to a concussion he suffered last Sunday during the team’s 113-107 loss to the Boston Celtics.
The Bucks won two out of the three games Lillard missed after Charlotte Hornets guard LeMelo Ball tripped while driving to the basket in the closing seconds of the 4th quarter of Saturday’s game, causing officials to call a foul against Giannis Antetokounmpo. Ball made the game-winning free throws, sealing the 115-114 win over Milwaukee. Head coach Doc Rivers received a $25,000 fine for a comment about the call during his post-game press conference in which he said, “This is back-to-back games now where on the final play there’s been an incorrect call made.”
Shortly after Rivers made the comment, NBA Referee Curtis Blair responded “correct” when a reporter in the post-game Pool Report asked if the call of a foul against Antetokounmpo would’ve been overturned had the Bucks had a challenge to use.
Lillard has played well to start the season, averaging 26 points per game, which is 11th most in the league, and 6.6 assists per game. He struggled during last Sunday’s loss against Boston, scoring just 14 points in 36 minutes played before leaving the game with a concussion.
Bucks pre-game from Fiserv Forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. CST with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. on WSAU.
