MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin mens basketball team struggled early but came back and held off Texas-Rio Grande Valley 87-84 on Monday night at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers trailed 52-48 at halftime. John Blackwell then exploded for 20 second half points, finishing with a career-high 30. He hit four big free throws down the stretch including two that sealed the win. He added seven rebounds and three assists.
John Tonje had 19 points and Max Klesmit added 11.
The Vaqueros had five players in double figures led by Hasan Abdul-Hakim with 19 .
The Badgers, now 5-0, will play at Central Florida on Friday.
