PINE LAKE, WI (WSAU) — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of Monday’s fatal crash in the Town of Pine Lake.
Mark E Carlson of Woodbury, Minnesota was killed when his Honda CRV crashed head-on into a GMC Sierra on Highway 17 near Mud Lake Road. Investigators believe Carlson’s vehicle drifted across the center line just before the crash.
The 60-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the GMC was transported to a Rhinelander-area hospital for their injuries and then flown to Wausau for further treatment. An update on their condition has not been provided.

The investigation and cleanup closed a portion of Highway 17 for several hours on Monday.
