WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Wood County man accused of killing a 28-year-old woman then taking her body some 70 miles away and dumping it along the side of a highway is now facing a count of intentional homicide.
Deyvin Castro Gutierrez was formally charged during a court appearance on Thursday. Investigators believe the 38-year-old killed Blanca Jesenia Hernandez Portocarrero in the city of Marshfield then drove north to Price County and dumped her body near Prentice.
Her body was found on November 3rd near Whitby Road and Highway 13. The investigation led to a lengthy closure of the highway.
Gutierrez was arrested approximately ten days later. His bond was set at $10 million on November 12th. He remains in jail following Thursday’s hearing.
A cause of death for Hernandez Portocarrero has not been released. No further court action against Gutierrez was immediately scheduled.
