MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers leading scorer this season has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week once again.
According to a press release from the Big Ten Conference, guard John Tonje is the Big Ten Player of the Week for the second straight week after winning the Greenbrier Tip-Off in West Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, over the weekend.
Tonje, who scored 33 points to lead the Badgers to an 81-75 victory over Pittsburgh in the championship game, was named the MVP of the tournament and is the first Badger to receive the honor in back-to-back weeks since former star Johnny Davis did back in 2022.
Supported by Tonje’s average of 23.0 points per game so far this season, the Badgers are 7-0 for the first time since 2014-15 and are ranked 15th overall in the most recent AP Top 25 poll.
