WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 31-year-old man is being held on a $60,000 cash bond after last week’s high-speed chase through Rib Mountain.
Court records show Cody Patterson faces three felony counts including burglary, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and fleeing an officer. He also faces a felony count for forgery and numerous traffic violations connected with the chase.
The incident began with a routine traffic stop on Saturday. Officials said the driver of that vehicle told them there was a burglary in progress nearby. When officers went to investigate, they saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
Officers chased the vehicle down Rib Mountain Drive and County Road NN. The chase also went through some fields and residential yards before officers were able to terminate the chase using pursuit intervention techniques.
Some squad cars were damaged in the process including one that was disabled and needed to be towed. No officers were injured in the incident.
Investigators confirmed that the vehicle and several items inside of it were stolen, including some firearms. They also believe that the driver was involved in other crimes in recent weeks. Those incidents remain under investigation.
Patterson returns to court on December 23rd for a preliminary hearing. He faces more than 30 years in prison if found guilty on all felony counts.
