MADISON, WI (WSAU) – On Thursday, Xavier Lucas, a true freshman and rising star cornerback for Wisconsin, declared his decision to enter the transfer portal after only one season with the program.
According to a post on his X account, the former 52nd overall recruit from the state of Florida, Lucas joined the Badgers as a four-star recruit in the class of 2024. Despite offers from Alabama, Miami, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, and Oklahoma, he decided to enroll in the program and will now be the Badgers’ 21st player to enter the portal since the end of the season.
He appeared in 12 games, with 18 tackles (12 solo), two tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and two deflections during his time in Madison.
Senior Ricardo Hallman, redshirt freshmen Jay Harper and Omilio Agard, and true freshmen Jaimier Scott, Cairo Skanes, and Jahmare Washington are now the only cornerbacks on the 2025 roster, so Fickell and his staff will now need to search the transfer portal for starting defensive back depth.
