GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers aren’t ruling out that one of their top tight ends could return to the field on Monday night when the team hosts the New Orleans Saints.
According to head coach Matt LaFleur, who spoke to the media after practice on Friday, Luke Musgrave has been looking good and may be ready to play, saying, “Just watching him take a lot of the scout team reps, he’s running fast. We didn’t have pads on this week, but everything I’ve seen from him, he looks pretty good.”
“He’s got something that you can’t really coach in terms of the speed he brings out there to the field. If we can ease him back into it, it’d be really good for him and us,” LaFleur continued.
Musgrave has been practicing with the team for the past two weeks. He was placed on injured reserve in Week 4 after requiring surgery to treat an ankle injury.
As a rookie last season, Musgrave caught 34 passes for 352 yards and a touchdown. Tucker Kraft, a 2023 third-round pick out of South Dakota State, won the job as the starting tight end before the regular season began and has been a reliable target for Jordan Love, catching 41 passes for 555 yards and seven touchdowns.
