SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -The City of Schofield hopes a grant will help them expand an existing park.
The Wisconsin DNR says the city applied for a 50 percent matching grant from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.
The money would help buy a 0.13 acre parcel of land, and create a public access on Lake Wausau.
If the city gets the land, they say visitors can enjoy fishing, hiking, limited trapping and an area for picnics. Because the land is small and close to homes and buildings, the DNR is proposing hunting and some trapping not be allowed.
