MADISON, WI (WSAU) – One of the Badgers former top quarterback prospects is chosen where he will play in 2025.
According to a post on his X account, Mabrey Mettauer, who is a Texas native, has signed with Sam Houston State, rejoining him with former Badgers offensive coordinator Phil Longo after he accepted the program’s head coaching job earlier this month, replacing K.C. Keeler, who left to become the next head coach at Temple.
Mettauer is now rated as a three-star prospect, the 611th-best player overall in the portal, and the 66th-best quarterback, per 247Sports.
Mettauer did not get an opportunity to start a game for the Badgers after they chose to stick with former starting quarterback and fellow Texas native, Braedyn Locke, despite his struggles throughout the season throwing at least one interception in nearly each game he started this past season. Locke announced last week that he had signed with Arizona after entering the transfer portal not long after the 2024 season ended.
