MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The city of Marshfield will begin removing ash trees in Braem Park this month.
The city states that this will be the fourth year of removals, as part of a five year strategy to remove a majority of the ash trees in the park. This year’s tree removal area is roughly four acres in size. It is located in the northeast portion of the park.
They are removing the trees before they become a threat due to Emerald Ash Borer infestation. It was first discovered in the city in January 2021. The bug kills trees by feeding beneath the bark, affecting water and nutrients.
The park will remain open, but park users should stay at least 300 feet away from equipment and workers.
