MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Badger men didn’t let an early ten-point deficit bother them, turning a 15-5 early Minnesota lead into an 80-59 Big Ten victory on Friday.
Steven Crowl led the Badgers with 18 points and five rebounds. John Tonje scored 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Kamari McGee added 15 points, and John Blackwell scored nine.
Wisconsin won the rebounding battle 37-36 and recorded 18 second-chance points. The Badgers also out-shot the Gophers 44%-36% and finished with significantly more free throw attempts (19-24 against 8-13) in the gam.
Minnesota was led by 22 points from Dawson Garcia. No other Gopher scored more than eight. Coach Ben Johnson skipped his post-game interview with Gophers radio announcer Mike Grimm.
Wisconsin improves to 13-3 with the win and 3-2 in Big Ten play. They’ll take on Ohio State on Tuesday in Madison before heading out for a two-game west coast road trip at USC and UCLA next weekend.
