MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks will be getting a familiar face back on Wednesday night as the future of the team’s roster continues to be one of the main focus points in recent trade deadline rumors.
According to The Athletics’ Eric Nehm, Bobby Portis Jr. has been listed as probable against the Charlotte Hornets after missing the team’s last six games due to the death of his grandmother. The Bucks have missed his scoring ability off the bench as they’ve struggled to score when Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are off the court.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard have also been upgraded to probable for Wednesday’s game after missing the team’s blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night while center Brook Lopez remains questionable due to knee soreness.
Portis Jr. returns to the team at the right time, as the team will be without recently acquired forward Kyle Kuzma, who is not expected to arrive until later this week. However, NBA Insider Sean Wright, who first reported that the Bucks and Wizards had finalized the deal for Kuzma, also reported on Tuesday night that Portis Jr. is expected to be traded by Thursday morning, and that Milwaukee has begun to focus on Grizzles guard Marcus Smart and Nets forward Cam Johnson.
Game coverage from Charlotte begins on WSAU at 5:30 p.m. CST.
