WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Just under 10,000 ballots were cast in Marathon County for Tuesday’s Spring Primary.
There were a limited number of races in the area, including Kronenwetter where incumbent Village President Chris Voll finished 3rd in a three-person primary for a spot on the April 1st Ballot. Voll, also serving as interim Village Administrator, received 184 votes or 21%. David M. Baker and Aaron Myszka advanced to the April ballot with 41% and 39% (364 and 333 votes) respectively.
A primary for Village President was also held in Weston. Incumbent Mark Maloney and James Pinsonneault finished first and second, with Maloney taking more than 50% of the vote and Pinsonneault with 27%. Hooshang Zeyghami falls off the ballot with 22%.
Voters in Marshfield have set their School Board race for April. Dan Griesbach, Dominic Pernsteiner, Cathy J. Gorst, and Coleman Grosbier will compete for two spots on April 1st. Charles Norton fell off the ballot with just 5% of the vote.
The one statewide race was for the Department of Public Instruction, where incumbent Jill Underly, who was appointed to the seat by Governor Tony Evers, and Brittany Kinser advanced to the April Ballot. Both received more than 35% of the vote. Jeffrey Wright falls off the ballot, with 27%.
Two Northwoods school districts also passed funding referendum questions; Northland Pines and Tomahawk.
Voter turnout in Marathon County was just over 11%.
