CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – Governor Tony Evers must be a bad poker player. Since the changing of the words “mother” and “father” to “inseminated” and “inseminator,” he’s been asked more questions about it.
He says the gender neutral language in his state budget is to offer protections to those who are using invitro-fertilization. That’s an unconvincing lie. Surely the Governor knows that in IVF, a sperm and an ovum are fertilized in a medical laboratory. For those who hope to have a child through an IVF procedure, no one is inseminated. The fertilization takes place in a petri dish and is then implanted in a woman’s womb.
As assembly speaker Robin Vos points out, the governor is fumbling for an explanation instead of admitting the obvious: an uber-liberal who wrote parts of the state budget changed the language, and, subsequently caused the Governor a tremendous amount of embarrassment. For the governor to double-down is silly. The correct answer is simple, “I acknowledge that mothers are mothers and fathers are fathers, and the language in my budget will be changed back.”
There are two lessons from all of this. First, there are people on the far left who really do think this way. They dream of a day when a man might have a womb and a woman might be able to impregnate they/them. While normal people roll there eyes, they dream of a day when medical technology wills their most strange language into reality. And second, Governor Evers is trapped by the language of the far left. He’ll tick off his base if he backs down and changes the language to what it should be. He’s been hoisted on his own pittard, and hangs there for all to see. This guy is out of the political mainstream. And he’s been laid bare for all of Wisconsin to take notice.
