MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly adding a veteran pitcher to their 2025 roster as questions about who their 5th starting pitcher is will continue to be a topic of discussion as Opening Day grows closer.
According to FanSided MLB Insider Robert Murray, the Brewers and 36-year-old starting LHP Jose Quintana are in agreement on a one-year deal and is expected to join the team in Arizona this week once a physical is completed. The deal will pay Quintana up to $5 million for the 2025 season with incentives included.
Quintana, who was a member of the New York Mets in 2024, went 10-10 with a 3.75 ERA and 135 strikeouts. He’s played for numerous other teams, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Chicago White Sox, throughout his 12-year career.
During the 2024 postseason, Quintana had a 3.14 ERA in 14 innings thrown with 13 strikeouts, including a six-inning shutout against the Brewers in Game 3 of the Mets’ 4-2 NL Wild Card series victory.
