Green Bay Packers
GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are not expected to retain center Josh Myers as he officially hits the open market on Wednesday.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber, the Packers have decided to allow Myers to sign with a new team in 2025 and are likely to draft a new center during next month’s NFL draft or move Elgton Jenkins or Zach Tom to center.
Myers, 26, suffered a lower leg injury that caused him to leave the Packers’ playoff loss to the Eagles. He is not believed to have an impact on his 2025 season. However, he has suffered other injuries since being drafted by the Packers out of Ohio State back in 2021, including a knee injury that ended with him being placed on IR and a wrist injury during the 2022 season.
The Packers were one of eight teams to meet with Georgia center Jared Wilson during the combine and have also been rumored to be interested in Ohio State center Seth McLaughlin during the draft. McLaughlin, who won the Rimington Trophy this past season, did suffer a torn ACL last November but is expected to be ready for the start of the season. Both players are expected to be day two draft picks.
