PHOENIX, AZ (WSAU) — The San Diego Padres knocked off the Milwaukee Brewers 14-8 on Monday. Both teams registered double digit hits in the game.
Jackson Chourio had three hits and an RBI for the Brewers. Joey Ortiz had two RBIs while Chad Durbin, Manuel Margot, Ereic Haase and Cooper Pratt also drove in runs.
Brewer pitchers including Logan Henderson, Joel Payamps, Bryse Hudson and Abner Uribe struggled giving up a combined 13 earned runs in five 2/3 innings of work.
The Brewers also announced that Ortiz would start the season at shortstop as Brice Turang has developed a sore arm and will be examined later this week.
The Brewers saw their seven game winning streak come to an end. They will take on the Seattle Mariners today. They open the regular season March 27th against the New York Yankees.
