Wisconsin Badagers
MADISON, WI (WSAU) – For the second straight day, the Wisconsin Badgers have landed a transfer portal commitment as the team looks to continue to rebuild their roster for the 2025-2026 season.
According to NBA Insider Sean Wright, former San Diego State guard Nick Boyd will announce his commitment to the Badgers on Friday after he entered the transfer portal following the Aztecs’ elimination from the NCAA tournament by the North Carolina Tar Heels in their First Four matchup.
Boyd, who has one year of eligibility remaining, averaged 13.4 points and 3.9 assists per game for the Aztecs this past season, which included him scoring in the double digits against fellow March Madness schools such as New Mexico (17), Utah State (15), Gonzaga (23), Oregon (15), and Houston (12).
Badgers Head Coach Greg Gard will look for Boyd and fellow transfer commit Andrew Rohde to help take over the team’s scoring duties as point guard John Blackwell has confirmed that he will attempt to be drafted into the NBA this summer alongside teammate John Tonje, who is expected to be taken in the first round.
The Badgers did receive additional good news on Friday afternoon as center Nolan Winter confirmed in a post on X that he will return to Madison for his junior year instead of attempting to take his talents elsewhere by entering the transfer portal after averaging 9.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for Gard’s Badgers in 2024.
