Decorum at City Hall is on the agenda for the Wausau Rules Review Committee on Tuesday.
The Committee will take up a proposal to restrict hand-held signs during City Committee, Board, Commission, and Common Council meetings. They’ll also consider a statement to be read or placed on agendas for all meetings and creating a decorum section in the Council’s Standing Rules.
These items come at a time when the Council has taken up many hot-button issues, including the Ethics Board’s investigation into Mayor Doug Diny’s handling of a locked, but not yet secured, municipal dropbox, which Clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde had intended to install as a ballot dropbox ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election.
The meeting packet contains examples of how other communities structure their meetings, including Rhinelander, Stevens Point, and Green Bay. Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6:30 at City Hall and will be available via live stream and public access.
