RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — The Hodag Dome in Rhinelander is one step closer to reopening.
District leaders said they’ve reinflated the dome and are in the final stages of interior repairs, meaning the facility could reopen next week. That includes inspection and repair of all light fixtures and patching of all fabric tears.
“The repair team expects to complete all scheduled Dome repairs by the end of next week. Once repairs are finished, the Dome will be reopened for public use,” reads a statement from the district that was posted to Facebook.

The Dome was damaged during a winter storm in late March. A subsequent power outage and the failure of a backup generator magnified the issue, causing the structure to deflate.
Repair teams from Arizon, the Dome’s manufacturer, have been on site since early April to oversee the process. Original estimates called for the dome to reinflate in early May and reopen by late May, a timeline that has largely held up.
