I spoke with director Tim Mahoney of The American Miracle recently on the Meg Ellefson Show. Bestselling author and radio host Michael Medved will join me later this week to continue the conversation of this important story that this movie tells.
The Left insists that there’s nothing special about America. But a new docudrama contends that God inspired its founding. The American Miracle – Our Nation is No Accident hits the silver screen in 1,000 theaters nationwide Monday, June 9th through Wednesday, June 11th. The American Miracle is produced by Heroic Pictures in partnership with Fathom Entertainment.

Inspired by Michael Medved’s bestseller, this exciting, entertaining, and edifying motion picture experience was created in anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The history of the American experiment is a fabric woven of countless instances of improbable, unimaginable events.
Consider God’s protection of George Washington – the Father of our Country — in a ferocious battle in 1755 during the French and Indian War. During the Battle of Monongahela, 69 of 70 officers were either killed or wounded. Washington was the only officer who was not shot off his horse. In fact, two horses were shot from under him. Yet he lived. Even a Native American chief later said they couldn’t touch Washington. Shockingly, after the battle, he found numerous bullet holes in his jacket and bullet fragments in his hair but he was miraculously unscathed. No wonder they called him “Bulletproof.”
Daniel Shippey, one of America’s most celebrated interpreters of George Washington and an erudite Washington historian, portrays the Father of Our Country in the film. In his first inaugural speech, President Washington described it as, “the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men.”
Or consider the God-ordained weather conditions that favored the movements of the Continental Army at critical battlefield junctures. For example, in the face of 32,000 British soldiers in New York, God protected 9,000 patriots as they crossed the East River under the cover of unheard of heavy fog in August. Even the British, at the time, were convinced that God’s hand of protection rested upon the American revolutionaries.
With a cast including Pat Boone, Kevin Sorbo, Nicole C. Mullen, and Cameron Arnett, and expert commentary from renowned historians, the film offers a powerful and timely reminder that America’s freedom and purpose are no accident. They are the result of God’s providence.
The American Miracle takes viewers from the unlikely victories of the Revolutionary War to the divine protection of America’s early leaders. The film affirms that our freedoms were not random, but rooted in a higher purpose — one that continues to shape the soul of the nation.
Director Tim Mahoney said, “A strong theme in the film is gratitude for God and His divine providence, which we should never take for granted. A lot of other nations look to America and wonder, ‘What is it that makes America what it is?’ The American Miracle clearly communicates that our freedoms and liberties don’t come from a government or person. They come from God. It is in God that we trust.”
Mahoney cited a poll showing that only one in three college students would pass a basic citizenship test, emphasizing the importance of revisiting stories from America’s founding, particularly those that point to God’s intervention.
“Some historians have tried to downplay the role of faith in our founding. But if you look at what the Founders actually said and wrote, it’s clear they believed in God. There’s a trend today to be cynical about America. But we need to revisit our heroes. George Washington was steady, faithful, and humble,” stated Doug Maddox, producer of The American Miracle.
Maddox added, “With the upcoming 250th Anniversary of America, this is the perfect time to release this film. We’re inviting Americans to rediscover their roots and the true history of our nation. We hope viewers of the film will be surprised and deeply moved by what they see. Join us in celebrating this milestone by watching and supporting this film.”
